Wool Pellets: From Our Flock to Your Garden
At Simon Sheep Farms, sustainability means putting everything we raise to good use — including our wool. Wool is naturally rich in nutrients, holds moisture, and brings lasting benefits to gardens and soil.
We take that raw wool and transform it into 100% natural fertilizer pellets, made entirely on our farm. From shearing to milling, packaging to shipping, the entire process happens right here in Gove County, Kansas — no outside processing, no waste.
How We Make Wool Pellets
1. We Shear the Sheep
Each spring, our flock is carefully sheared as part of their routine care. This gives us a renewable supply of raw wool, perfect for transforming into something useful and lasting.
2. We Mill It On-Farm
The wool is used just as it comes off the sheep — without chemical cleaning or washing. This helps preserve its natural nitrogen content, which is one of the key benefits in the garden. We then mechanically mill and compress it into small, dry pellets using equipment right here on the farm.
3. We Package and Ship Direct
Once pelleted, the wool is packaged and shipped directly from our farm. It doesn’t pass through warehouses or distributors — just straight from us to you.
The Benefits of Wool Pellets
Slow-Release Nitrogen
Wool is naturally high in nitrogen. As the pellets break down over time, they feed plants gradually without the risk of burning — making them ideal for everything from vegetables to ornamentals.
Water Retention
Each wool pellet can hold many times its weight in water. That means less frequent watering, better drought resistance, and more consistent moisture levels in your soil.
Improved Soil Health
Wool pellets help aerate the soil, reducing compaction and supporting strong root systems. They work especially well in raised beds, potted plants, and heavier soils.
Natural Pest Barrier
As the pellets break down, they create a fibrous texture in the soil that can help deter slugs and snails — a simple, non-toxic barrier that supports healthy growth.
No Waste. No Fillers. Just Wool.
These pellets are 100% wool — no binders, no additives, no processing chemicals. They're biodegradable, safe for kids and pets, and part of a closed-loop system that turns raw farm material into something useful for growers everywhere.
